Of the three speed seems the best one to give up. But slowness in reporting results can undermine confidence too, especially if it’s not clear what is delaying the release.
True. I was thinking more along the lines of a recalibration of expectations more generally, rather than an ad-hoc delay
Exactly: if we all expected election results to take a week, it shouldn’t create doubt when they do. So pre-commit: eg. no results for 5 days. Although I suppose exit poll equivalents and guesses might fill that void...
Also I worry that doing that in the current US political environment would just fuel claims that the time was being used to steal the election.
