It is the reality of many people in creative professions I think. Certainly I think it’s probably worse for my friends who became musicians, comedians, writers, etc. But maybe not since those industries are less professionalised so it’s not directly combined with promotion.

From some limited experience in this area I’d say that it’s just as bad in creative industries, just with the added energising factor of being constantly on the brink of unemployment too.
