Though I am sad to report that my headline suggestion -- "Are You There God? It's Me, The Democratic Party" -- was rejected.
Rejecting this title is a failure which indicts the entire @FiveThirtyEight organization.
It would be interesting to see the, “no religious affiliation,” categories broken down by race.
The chart of how many voters say religion is "very important," "somewhat important," "not important" is broken down by race and gives you an idea of that indirectly.
I can see why it would be rejected. But -- man! -- is does make you think.
I think that would have been a better headline! The one chosen seems more pessimistic than your article. (Which I thought was great)
