Please read happy Black books too. We don't just write about slavery and colonialism. Consume Black history and art about anything. It all helps to decenter whiteness

Crucial viewing in a country where we continue to contrast ourselves w/the US without looking into what's happening our own communities. asks, "Why are you more afraid of police not being able to hurt us, than you are about police *killing* us?"

One of the subjects of "There's No Place Like This Place, Anyplace" is Itah Sadu, co-owner of bookstore & cultural centre. Itah has worked for decades to uplift the work and lives of Canadians of African and Caribbean descent.

White people: whatever outrage and sadness you are feeling - pouring it all out on social to your Black friends won't make them feel connected to you, it just places the burden of your feelings on top of their own. Send money, send a meal, buy from Black businesses. BE USEFUL.

Every forced-perspective news photo of a crowded beach that circulates is a missed opportunity to see inside a meat-processing plant or an Amazon warehouse; most people aren't getting sick because they WON'T social distance, but because they CAN'T

“There’s something very, very wrong with how the folks running the provincial response to this epidemic are reacting to it and how they’re processing information.” Just utterly scathing evaluation of Ontario’s response.
