This same logic also applies to any form of the arts. My art constantly got made fun of by my classmates in high school (I went to a vocational school studying art) and now I'm much better. People in arts having a rough start isnt unheard of. You just gotta stick to it. :)

I didn't even take theater/drama class for more than a day (partially because it was barely offered). And the teacher told me I'd never make an actor. Joke's on her, my voice was what made me an actor more than drama class and I never would have imagined. x.x

In 4 years of trying out for every production my high school did each year (which was roughly 5 not including the 1 act play festival every year that I also auditioned for) I was only cast: One. Time. As background. With no lines. Because the play took place in Appalachia...

And the director thought it would be good practice for the students in hair/makeup to find authentic styles for my waist-length hair. That's it. So yeah, f**k Highschool theater. Haha (Choir was pretty much the same)

Well, in my 3 years in theatre, I tried to aim for the main roles, but I’ve been picked as an understudy or ensemble, it bothered me a bit, but I still had hope for choir, which I got solos for all 4 years of high school, I refuse to give up though.

…I had a chance to audition for a dream role as a child and I chickened out of even trying, and I struggle to find anything I could do now (even pre-COVID this has been a problem) I don’t feel like it’s gonna be okay

Big same. My highschool was hella cliquey and the teachers advising theater programs played favorites. The only ones I know regularly working professionally from my highschool are me and

The main reason I want to be listed on our HS and college’s wiki pages as a “notable alumni” is so it’s more likely it’ll piss off the stuck up theater kids who thought they were gonna “make it” on Broadway.
