A driver almost hit my husband in a crosswalk today & then they walked into a shop at the same time. My husband said, "You almost hit me back there," & the driver screamed at him, followed him around the store, & threatened to call the cops. Why do cars make people like this?

cops treat bikers (esp Black/brown bikers) like shit and let drivers get away with murder. they have never kept anybody safe, their sole purpose in existence is to inflict state violence on marginalized people

Horrible and worthless NYPD officers bullying and arresting a young black boy for riding his bike on the sidewalk. There were at least 25 cops just standing around. Abolish the fucking police.

No this ain't it. "substantial stakeholder buy-in and cooperation is necessary for project approval and success" This is your problem. You don't need those things. It's no wonder you accomplish almost nothing. Do what needs to be done, then educate.

continuing to go down through this document (sfmta.com/sites/default/) Re. pedestrianized Valencia: "While it may be quicker to implement than other concepts or designs, substantial stakeholder buy-in and cooperation is necessary for project approval and success." IS IT??!!

Holding the door open for someone is a common courtesy. Stopping your car and not hitting someone with it while they cross the street is not an act of kindness or courtesy. It is the bare minimum of your responsibility as a driver. Let's not confuse courtesy and responsibility.

I never want to see another human trot across a crosswalk, hurry their stroller/kids/mobility device or rush a senior resident through an intersection or any road. It’s ridiculous, like we’ve been gifted some incredible act of patience from our dear auto overlords.Absolutely absurd

Alex needs your help! This is the most garbage situation and a terrible thing to happen to someone who has brought a so much joy to people with their artwork. Please read and check out the gofundme

Update: The woman who killed these two little boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander, by driving into them at over 70 MPH w/ her 2.5 ton car has delayed her trial again and is still free and permitted to drive. We need a #pedestrianbillofrights foxla.com/news/rebecca-g

This is a picture of the two little boys she killed without mercy as their parents watched. Can you imagine the pain they have endured? There is virtually no dispute that she was drunk and racing. The little boys, and their parents, are the victims. This woman belongs in jail.

The lies and deception in this official police statement should call into question virtually every official police statement. If they’d commit a brutal murder, then lie about it, they’ll lie about anything. This isn’t a one time thing. It’s endemic in police culture.

Yay brand new subway already has an overhead issue - along with the ridiculous escalator issues, scheduling issues, etc. Great start for !

ATTN: #CentralSubway service is currently delayed at Yerba Buena Station in both directions due to a overhead issue.

Since 2019 I’ve been in an expensive, stressful legal battle to protect Webcomic Name (my “oh no” comics). It’s a relief to finally talk about this publicly! I’m launching a crowdfunder to pay my remaining legal fees to end this. 1/8

As respectfully as I can muster here, this is mostly lip service from both and . Both continue to fail us by doing far too little, far too late. And especially SFMTA still prioritizing cars over safe streets. And dragging their feet on everything.

We agree, supervisor, and share your commitment to safe streets. We are heartbroken over the death of Wan Mei Tan. Crossing a street is something each of us does every day—and no one should die from it. (1/3)

It's bad enough that drivers routinely block crosswalks (all throughout downtown/FiDi, and probably on other stretches of the High Injury Network). But to have OFFICIALS OFFICIALLY directing car drivers to endanger pedestrians DAILY is egregious. Please fix this now.
Show this thread
It's really really disheartening to see failing to prioritize pedestrian safety first - all for the sake of a few extra cars going through - especially since drivers continue to hit and kill pedestrians throughout our city. You MUST do better. Lives depend on it.

Another worker with him previously told me that their only job is to make sure buses on Market Street can get through the traffic. But this is UNACCEPTABLE. You need to put pedestrian safety FIRST, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. And ALL of your workers need to take this to heart.

A woman greeted him joyfully this evening (she might've called him Mike or Mikey). He seems to know and connect with so many people. But apparently doesn't care about ANYONE on the other side. What if people he know take the other side some days? He's endangering THEM...

The guy is super nice to everyone who crosses in "his" crosswalk - north side of the intersection. So many seem to know him. But, what, he only cares about them while endangering everyone else crossing on the south side?? Ridiculous. Terrible job. He needs to care about ALL...

Two of them tried to argue that they don't *really* control traffic... But obviously they do - or else they wouldn't be there. Drivers nearly always obey them. That's the point in you assigning them there (well, because drivers are terrible and selfish)...

This inappropriate action constantly, consistently endangers pedestrians on the opposite crosswalk - every time. Once I was recording the situation (and he incorrectly told me I wasn't allowed to) and he got defensive and argumentative. Same with the others with him...

He and his crew stand at the north crosswalk, and FULLY direct traffic through the intersection (I say this for a reason - coming soon). He/they keep waving cars through EVEN THOUGH there's no way they'll clear the intersection before the light turns red. This is a big problem...

Hi why do your workers who direct traffic during the evening commute routinely direct cars to completely block the crosswalk on the opposite side of their intersection? The one worker at Battery/Bush/1st & Market does this constantly - nearly every light cycle...

I feel like has fallen completely silent on Vision Zero responses - something *they* committed to - even after major traffic fatalities. Fail. Please do better. This is your job.
Quote Tweet
Hi @SFMTA_Muni was there any 72 hour vision zero response to the pedestrian killed at 16th and Valencia last week? @jeffreytumlin @HillaryRonen @LondonBreed

This can always be summed up accurately by saying that you continue to actively choose to prioritize the convenience and *feelings* of car drivers over the safety and LIVES of more vulnerable people. It's reprehensible, defies all logic, and is 100% contrary to your jobs.

See et al. - this is what happens when you worry about "excluding" car drivers on Slow Streets. They SHOULD be excluded. That's the whole point. Knock this off already. Do something bold already - anything. This is your fault.

I was almost hit by not one but two cars on @SlowLakeStreet this morning- one purposefully sped right next to me another almost clipped me from behind and yelled “get out of the road”. I don’t feel safe running in broad daylight due to lack of @sfmta enforcement. Unacceptable

The T line sucks for getting to Embarcadero. Instead of a straight shot - though consistently slow - you now need a connection. This fucks everything up. And it's STILL really slow. Also Muni how do you have such big gaps during peak commute hours? Crazy.
