    My wife had a dental procedure done yesterday, so we boarded Vader from Wednesday to today. On the dog cam, I saw Vader give up his spot on the playground equipment for another dog who wanted to lay down. If I could be even half as kind as him, maybe I'll go somewhere in life.

    It's this bug: Though, one difference is that this was hit by attempting to build packages. So `zpool trim` wasn't called.

    Figured it out. Looking up the class, then calling it as if it were a function works. The return value of the call to PyObject_CallObject will be the newly-instantiated object.

    C-Python development question: if I wanted to instantiate a new instance of an object in a module, how would I go about doing that? I've got this much code written. I'm not sure what my next steps are, though. (Note that this is PoC code, hence the printf's).

    Ugh. panic on latest 14-CURRENT/amd64. ZFS was recently updated in main. I don't think I've seen so much instability with ZFS since the switch to ZoL as the upstream.

    Some notes on why this is interesting: * MSRs act a bit like "what can this chip do?" * Not all are documented, * One of the undocumented ones happens to disable AES-NI, * There's a library vulnerable when AES-NI is off, * Oops, we've leaked an AES key from SGX. That's elegant.

    Our paper "Finding and Exploiting CPU Features using MSR Templating" got accepted at S&P'22! Together with we analyze the effects of MSRs on system security and show our findings in six case studies. Paper:
