The sources said the directives from Guard headquarters made their way down orally or in text messages, rather than in formal written orders, which was unusual and heightened their concerns that the jet would be used inappropriately.

This isn’t the first time questions have been raised about the Guard’s use of aircraft during civil unrest.
In October, The Times reported that the Guard sent an RC-26B reconnaissance plane to monitor protests in June in an affluent Sacramento suburb.

It'd be nice if those in the middle and poor class got such protection from violent protestors

This is illegal activity and should be fully investigated. Those involved should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If not, you only invite more of this illegal and dangerous behavior.

Hahaha! Indeed it is illegal, but using active and passive electromagnetic weaponry is done everyday in this country, not just at protests. Granted not in jets, but who really knows. Definitely done using small aircraft and ground units clandestinely. Good luck stopping it.

Spy planes using both passive & active electronics operate in my area constantly. (Metro Atlanta) so being done at protests should not be today viewed as abnormal. Not the guard but who knows & no easy way to find out who it is. Same w/ active IMSI & cellular radar. Its not new.
