When it comes to math, like Fermat's Last theorem, the "values" cannot enter in argument, but can enter in deciding which questions to focus on. This is of course not arbitrary, but a bit more value (or esthetic) laden.
Aye! Mathematics doesn’t face an under determination problem (a good proof does indeed show you that the premises entail its conclusion), so the argument i summarised in the blog post wouldn’t apply there.
