I’ve never got why Foucault is considered so controversial. His schtick is “institutions you might have thought benign came about for disreputable reasons”, examples being prisons, psychiatric hospitals, liberal sexual norms.
“Values and identity, allowed to “play around” on the field of otherwise objective research, become the only game in town” not recognisable as a description of the field, Longino’s under-determination argument isn’t as you described, & original values-folk not especially feminist

One thing I do agree with pretty hard and has been the subject of much discussion between me and some friends lately is that the model of interdisciplinary study wherein people aren’t first grounded in some method has proven very much unfruitful.
