      Ohh I know what you mean! Yeah that was a shame; I think the event went ok. Well regulated Q&A. Of course I also think that (as per normal) the questions exposed flaws in argument, but the authors can go and work on that and its improper for professors to publicly insult them.

      Hmm maybe, sometimes I guess I think it'd be blowing off steam with little actual significance, but I think professional power networks and the responsibilities one takes on as an educator at least make it especially important that professors obey any general norm to this effect.

      It's definitely more important for professors not to insult students. I agree. I just don't think it ever has any value besides that. In no way am I ever going to have a more attuned view into the motivations of Chalmers' view than he does, even if I disagree, for instance.
