One cute thing (as in, genuinely sweet) about the #philosophy community is that we recognise and celebrate achievements - new books, career milestones, etc - by inviting the recipient’s friends to publicly air their disagreements with the awardee. It’s a friendly memento mori.

It’s like when in the Soviet Union they used to have those trials in which the party members would be publicly criticized and shamed. :-)
