If there were defences of creationism & astrology then I might see them as believers in Feyerabendian epistemic anarchism but of course they’re never also appealing for more bad natural science. But we do get fawning interviews for poor incompetent bigots who can’t catch a break.

Try & ask yourself honestly, if you were a black person in academia and even mildly knowledgeable about history of racist scholarship, wouldn’t you suspect that the Oh So Concerned for free speech are just a front for the same old bigotry? And thereby be reluctant to join in?

I want the free speech movement to have more credibility, it’d suit my broader beliefs, but tbh every time I see something like this I entirely understand why they don’t.
