Ok if we're going to have the Rationalism vs Romanticism debate all over again here are the teams: the Enlightenment Eagles (Condorcet, Carnap, R.Luxemburg, W.E.B. Du Bois, Dewey) Vs the Romantic Raptors (Herder, Goethe, Kierkegaard, Rorty, Heidegger). Rousseau is referee. Fight!

List chosen to represent my faves on both teams... and Heidegger.

I also have a deep fear that I stole this from @existentialcoms but can't remember the exact place, so everyone go and read that comic just to assuage my guilt.

The correct referee is Ernst Cassirer, Spinoza should replace Cordorcet on the Eagles, and Carl Jung should replace Rorty on the Raptors. 3/5.

Condorcet > Spinoza is not even hard, and I like Spinoza. But that's not close. The Jung angle is tempting but only to educate Jordan Peterson fans.

don't make me pick between Luxemburg and Herder, that just seems so wrong (and obvs. Spinoza is the greatest rationalist just cos he's so weird on what reason is)
