So at end of Black Panther (spoilers obvs) T’Challa goes to UN and says Wakanda is gonna start doing more for the world. Man replies “With all due respect what can a nation of farmers do for us?” And I’m just sitting here thinking... who the hell employed that man as a diplomat!?

Yeah, for this to be plausible, there'd have to be, like, a major world power whose leaders made a practice of appointing their unqualified, incompetent cronies to sensitive positions.
The complaint wasn't lack of realism! I'd have started earlier in the film (maybe the point at which a giant meteorite full of dilithium landed on earth) if that was my problem.
