Given the opportunity, people can and will see the ways in which they compromise their own freedom by restricting the freedom of others, and they can and will work to change that state of the world. (The implausible, optimistic, metaphysically loaded flipside of Femi’s project?)
@FemisMusic asked what are our strongly held but least supported views. Mine: people can be en masse good, we could arrange ourselves so even while generally happy and free it would be a remarkable exception from general way of things that folk would be malicious to one another.
