I know this is a freezing cold take but: most uses of `cultural Marxism' are silly. Just read claim that cultural Marxists wish to suppress speech because they fear effects on people's feelings. First time I've heard Marxists accused of being too concerned with people's feelings!

I think that if you're veeeeeeery charitable you can read 'cultural Marxism' as 'like Marxism but about cultural power rather than material power,' so the commitments might be different?
Ah I mean I can imagine central concern with control over, say, record labels and theater houses rather than other bits of the means of production - but its hard to see how anything Marxist-esque would then be especially worried about how folk feel about this.
