Bizarre thing about moving to America to be in academia is all the fancy right-on lefty academicals are super comfortable making sarcastic comments about `sportsball' in ways which seem to me, humble Britisher that I am, like just naked snobbery. What's up with this?

but i don't feel the same way about nonteam extreme sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, ultrarunning, climbing, etc. there is not a group us against them "rooting" culture in those sports, however. i guess i wonder if people that study aesthetics would consider it snobbery.
Interesting question! It didn't even occur to me that people who study aesthetics might study snobbery, I should look into that -- good shout!
