In recent days I've twice got notifications about tweets that as far as I could tell had nothing to do with me. Reason to be worried?

I keep getting notifications about other people retweeting someone I don't follow, it's quite bizarre.
Ok that's what's happening to me: maybe it's a problem with their notifications system or something?

I think, sadly, it might be on purpose. I suspect they think these notifications will make people use twitter more.
