Is it just dislike of Muggles? That's a pretty thin basis to risk life and limb. But Voldermort doesn't seem to actually promise any reward.

@cathyby But in Magneto's case he's actually responding to oppression from humanity - humans keep trying to kill him, and he's tired of it..
