Hearing that top candidates, even if unemployed, are turning down offers because some companies have tried to offer lower comp due to market conditions. Companies - keep your talent bar high and don't overhire, but don't skimp on paying talent. You'll get what you pay for.

I would pay for a SaaS subscription that allows me to find ripe avocados 🥑 at any point in time. Heck, I would pay a premium to get them delivered.

It’s scary that Teams doesn’t seem so bad anymore besides the sporadic driver update before a meeting. Looks like my adaptation has been completed 🐑
This sucks but is the price of betting your future on narcissistic leaders.

Those fired got 4 weeks severance, by the way. A slap in the face, given that if they chose to not click "yes" to stay just a week ago, they would have gotten 3 months. They might have believed in Twitter 2.0, but still got a worse deal than those who chose to simply leave.

Musk followers are like a cult justifying their misery with greatness. Makes me wonder if this platform will survive in spite of the toxic leadership and (a lot of) brainwashed engineering working for the sake of a billionaire’s whim.

Scoop: Elon Musk just sent an email to all staff outlining "Twitter 2.0", writing it will"need to be extremely hardcore". Long hours, high intensity. People need to click "yes" to confirm being part of this by 5pm ET tomorrow, else they get 3 months severance. More details:

we criticize hollywood for lazy tropes but our two main antagonists right now is a former kgb agent with a penchant for poisoning and an emerald mine heir who wants to live on mars. if these were bond villains they’d be dismissed as caricature

I have not used Mastodon yet but that analogy told me everything I need to know 😂

As much as people are pushing Mastodon, the whole experience is like trying to get GPG/PGP to work. Hey here's a load of servers, won't say much but yeah pick one. As much as distributed is good, there is a need for coherence too

First experience using Doom Emacs has been very positive. If things continue to go this well I might end up moving from spacemacs 🤔
Very interesting thread that helps product teams on the bases that need to be covered for either moving into or from architecture paradigms. Most of the time the problem lies in the expectations and ways we approach things more than the architecture paradigm per se.

I spoke with a team yesterday that is moving away from serverless in favor of managed k8s on aws it wasn't an easy decision for them and they went through a thorough review of their architecture the reasons they highlighted to me are:

And when you find them, you better not low-ball them unless you want to go back to step 1.

This is the thing no one tells you. The real secret is finding the plumber and electrician and contractor you can trust. That takes years usually and lots of mistakes unfortunately.

Don’t get confused about it. The new super mario movie is just for kids as well as for us in our 30s that grew with the NES.
