"How do I say X in Spanish?" is usually the wrong question to ask. Spanish is not a translation of English, and meaning is very often not expressed the same way. Rather than learning Spanish as [thought->English->Spanish], learn it for what it is, [thought->Spanish].

People express pure thought in their native or strongest language. How else would someone reasonably and efficiently request someone to tell them how to express a thought in Spanish?
