I think we have misconceptions here of what studying grammar has to look like. “Avoid grammar” is what many ppl take as a conclusion and to me that’s got the same damaging potential as “wait to speak”

Creo que hablas español. Te diré por qué. Muchos hablan del método del niño, el cuál consiste en aprender como si fueses alguien que está chico y aprende en el ambiente natural de crecimiento. Si embargo, aprender de forma experimental tiene un tremendo atraso. ¿Por qué?

The eternal grammar debate! Interesting arguments, I’ve had this same debate with my sister and she says grammar has helped her tremendously when learning French (L1: Portuguese) while I prefer to stay away from grammar unless it’s extremely necessary or if I’m really lost! 😅

3. Te daré un ejemplo. El caso del español, el cual verbalmente posee 50 o más formas verbales por cada verbo (inglés posee 4), tomando en cuenta artículos, géneros, etc, puede ser bastante engorroso conocerlo si no lo estudias directamente (gramática). Imagina el tiempo.

4. Imagina el tiempo que tomaría estudiar esto de forma aleatoria o experimental. ¿No crees qué estudiar gramática puede darte un atajo? En mi caso, me ayudó mucho para comenzar a escribir y hablar el inglés, asumiendo que soy deficiente aún por falta de práctica.

Learning grammar when you need grammar is important. Learning grammar independent of communication or context can be bad. Avoid grammar until you come to a point where you think "oh, I need to express causation. I better research it." Necessity is the mother of invention.
