Many teachers teach words like "ser", "estar", and other "basic" words early on. But these words are naturally acquired much later on! By focusing on the low hanging fruit and learning what our brain is ready to learn at each step we can learn faster and with less frustration.

Teaching the explicit rules of when to use ser/estar is difficult for learnings. But they are among the most used words in the language. Use them in context always. But don't get frustrated when your students use the wrong one.
