  1. Trying to make a conference presentation incorporating better slide design... Is less more even for title slides, or is it still necessary to incorporate venue/author info somewhere? If so, how? Titles are already so long!

My wife and I never talk baby talk to our kid. We enforce academic seminar norms and jargon. My child isn’t even 2 yet and can interrupt presenters on the first slide. Adults at family gatherings are shocked when my child asks a question that turns out to be more of a comment.

Anyone know if there's an equivalent, but in Spanish?

How about a thread of how people would say "retrieval practice" "spacing" and "interleaving" in other languages?

Me explaining deixis to my class: I am you to you and you are you to me, but I am not me to you because you are me to you and you can't be you to yourself.

    15. I do not understand the seemingly complementary distribution of "partir" and "sortir"

    14. Not specific to French, but Duo. Whoa, way too big a jump in difficulty between crown level 4 and 5, from 90% recognition to having to write whole phrases! Not enough exercises practicing small chunk spelling to bridge the gap

It's apparently too much to ask that the (citation) be about: dyslexia intellectually stimulating problem solving engagement in the learning process

Aaand again. If an article states: Effective treatment for dyslexics includes not only explicit language instruction but also hands on, intellectually stimulating problem solving activities that enhance their engagement in the learning process (citation)

    13. Funny unexpected differences: tablespoon = cuillère à soupe (soup spoon) teaspoon = cuillère à café (coffee spoon) Funny in that I wondered what coffee has to do with the size of a spoon before it dawned on me that the same goes for tea, but the compound was so seamless

Scrolling through Facebook, I definitely read "Debates" (Sp, 3 syl) as "Debates" (Eng, 2 syl), then realized and re-read and then went on to read "4 Alternatives" (Eng) as "4 (Cuatro) Alternatives" (Sp)

    12. This duo sentence with "apprendre" for "study" (as in for a test) seems odd to me. I categorize "learn" as encoding and "study" (as in for a test) as retrieving/reviewing Il apprendre X, as learning/studying a general field, doesn't bother me, but the test part throws me off

    11. Is it weird that, after Spanish, I miss not having two verbs for "to be" and "être" feels overextended? That's weird, right?

    10. French numbers. There are so many jokes about this that it's almost cliche to mention But really, French. Why? Do other languages do this? How long before my brain recognizes the number straight away instead of having to calculate the math?

"X is a made up word." Please, tell me more about the all natural words that grew on the word bushes and were harvested by the word farmers in bushels and sent to the word market.

My brain feels like it has too many tabs open. Does that make sense?
