    This is what gets me about fluffy mainstream coverage of commercial surrogacy. Like we’re all meant to think two rich men treating a poorer woman’s body as a rentable commodity is heartwarming because the media gloss over the patriarchal, capitalistic exploitation of women.

    the sick thing about “trans people need hormones because they’re suicidal!!!” is hormone imbalances are very common contributors to mental health issues and suicidal ideation. for a lot of people these feelings get a lot WORSE and they have no idea it’s the hormones causing it.

    many clinics and therapy centers also advertise that they’ll write surgery recommendations in one session or very few. the center on halsted in chicago where i used to go for therapy advertises this on their website

    my HRT prescribing planned parenthood clinic did nothing to ensure that i understood why healthy hormonal function is important to my health, and the ramifications of disrupting it (which cross sex HRT does to an extreme degree) let’s look at my “informed” consent document 🧵

    i’ve got loads of proof too! this was at planned parenthood, who have hundreds of clinics offering low cost and quick gender services across the USA

    .... wanna see some crazy? I got ahold of my informed consent file and it has my psychological assessment on it and 😂😂😂 wow. This took less than 30 min and cleared me to take testosterone w/ no blood work or further assessment.

    just look on any gender clinic website lmao. they all advertise that they’ll give you hormones as fast as possible. i got testosterone in one appointment without blood work and a 20 minute conversation with a social worker.

    I'm always annoyed that there's even a debate over "rapid onset gender dysphoria." The idea that children are declaring themselves transgender on a whim, then receiving pharmaceuticals *and surgery* with no assessment is simply absurd.
