A French team running a German car for a Belgian driver, yet the entry is called Team Belgium. This is why the Motorsport Games concept is flawed. I get the idea (and realize everyone is doing their best to represent their nation), but I can’t get excited over it.

Especially since the second-biggest owners are from Saudi Arabia, which isn't best friends with either Russia or China (although more friendly with them than the USA is)

There is an argument to be made for the FIA revoking his pass anyway, but given its own behaviour, I don't see that happening unless it could see some way for the FIA to directly profit from doing so (e.g. a female journalist willing to outbid Joe for the pass).

Joe Saward has a long history of ignoring reader feedback (including occasionally blocking readers for praising blog posts of his - long story) and he probably wouldn't be put off making comments like this even if his pass got revoked (he's an independent journalist).

(I'm not convinced the many questions of "Why was this paddock pass not revoked under the circumstances?" and "Why are people just pretending the allegations don't exist?" is quite the big news F1 thinks it is, or indeed should desire.)

The public need to know the truth 🔸 13.5% of NHS budget in England is spent on outsourcing mental health beds in private sector (=approx 2 billion £) 🔸 55% of beds for young people < 18 are in private sector 🔸9/10 private beds funded by NHS

Yet more sickening reports of abusive and neglectful care of psychiatric inpatients in UK. These were just children. The public deserves nothing less than a statutory inquiry into provision of psychiatric inpatient care across the age range across England @SteveBarclay twitter.com/DebatINQUEST/s…

This is going to massively hurt girls' chances, not to enter the championship, but to enter into top teams. I highly doubt we will see Prema or R-Ace having a girl in their line-ups but feel free to prove me wrong, please.
Quote Tweet
NEWS | ♀️ FRECA has confirmed to F1 Feeder Series that the rule authorizing teams to enter a 4th car if it's driven by a girl, would be deleted in 2023. In order to limit the number of cars on track to a maximum of 36, the only other option was to reduce the number of teams.

Artificial intelligence is being used to generate all kinds of scams - such as creating fake persons (and probably already to generate fake western blots and microscopy images for fabricated science papers).

For the past two years, Evan Ratliff (@ev_rat) has been following a woman around the internet. But Albertina Geller — or her face, at least — wasn't actually human. She was the product of artificial intelligence.

As long as the exact truth was sent to HMRC, Red Bull would only have to worry about the FIA (since the FIA has no authority to deliver its figures to HMRC, let alone get comment on them, unless HMRC initiates an investigation. Which it wouldn't if the HMRC figures were valid).

Wave 6 of COVID has begun. Get a vaccination if you can, take extra care in any case.

Germany is currently experiencing its fastest rate of COVID ICU admissions in the last year... faster than last winter's surge. There are a lot of "pro-spread" evangelists/trolls... don't listen to them, look at the data — it speaks for itself. Get ready for this fall/winter.

(Before someone says "uranium", the just-under-5kg needed would be useless without infrastructure. You'd need a little over 200 kg with current tech to carry enough effective explosive uranium power to do it. Let's say there's a reason SR-71 payloads are light.)

Meanwhile, he gets to have a Hakkinen-esque sabbatical where he tries other things and decides if he's going to drive anywhere at all in 2024. That can do a world of good for morale and outlook - whatever Daniel does next.
This is absolutely devastating. Mermaids represent a crucial lifeline for young trans people and their families. I know so many stories about how they've transformed lives. That their helpline has been shut down underlines that LGBTQ+ charities are under coordinated attack.

Due to intolerable abuse, we have made the decision to close the helpline and webchat services for the rest of today and tomorrow. Next week, to enable us to take all volunteers off the rota, we will reduce hours to 9am to 6pm only.

Either Checo did not deserve the win or the FIA needed to throw more of the race in the bin than the 5 minutes required to be removed by the 3-hour regulation the FIA deliberately broke despite being put in to save lives.
1
#f1 That makes it 6 races since summer break 2021 that the FIA has deliberately broken a regulation in a way that changed the result of the race. And this time, in a way that not only endangered drivers but breached the terms of a legal settlement it made 5 years ago.
1
The whole point of the regulation is to prevent additional danger from overstepping the anticipated race window. Thus the FIA choosing to do this (even for a lit track like this one) sets a potentially lethal precedent and must be stopped #f1 #fia

#f1 The FIA claiming the 3-hour window starts from the race is false, and has been since the original 4-hour window agreed as part of the Bianchi settlement (agreed in spring 2017) was modified in 2021. There's a separate 2-hour regulation for that purpose.

I'd say it was rather more difficult to achieve, but the FIA has been focusing on funnelling drivers into a particular path, madating increases in the cost of vehicles on the primary path and more travelling - all of which make the development series more expensive.

It would not surprise me if a second-time offender could be permanently thrown out and not invited back, but I did not see "exclusion from future World Championships" on the penalty list for a first-time offence.
