Usability tests should be done on single parents with three children on an airport in a hurry to catch a flight.

You know the feeling when after a frustrating effort to understand why something doesn't work you finally figure it out intellectually and the feeling is so strong that you almost don't even want to test that the fix works.

The 7th rule of IT: A temporary solution will become a permanent solution. Corollary: Everyone knows a temporary solution will become a permanent solution, but they think that this time will be different, but it won't be.

This goes some of the way to break down why I always feel so uneasy about Sprints, at least when done without focus on product goals. The batch size is too small. Kanban isn't necessarily any better if you just work through tickets without wider context.

It is starting to feel like everything else in software development is API and code library driven but CI/CD systems. Or maybe I'm just using the wrong CI systems?

IT people: we need to iterate designs aggressively. Also IT people about every change to apps we are using: I will never forgive them changing the app.

"The free market is essentially a casino that you can never leave." a casino where with only one eventual winner. Important article that disproves: free market leads to many winners, to "liberty"--it doesn't. Without Redistribution we get Oligarchy, Fast.

Retweeted nearly 2K times, here's a perfect example of the kind of slovenly, ideologically driven thinking that passes for "history" on Twitter.

Just attend a properly executed user testing session for a UI that you've implemented and you should never ever again think that you can make a good UI without a feedback cycle.

It is practically impossible to get an UI to be decent on a first try so you should have a system in place that all but guarantees that you change the UI for at least few revisions. Don't even pretend that you're doing user-friendly UIs without a proper, honest feedback system.
