But harder to answer is 2. Will Dem primary voters decide the party needs a disciplined – the term Harris prefers to “cautious” – candidate in a general election against a famously undisciplined POTUS? Or is her caution a risk when voters seek authenticity?
In California, Kamala Harris' caution seemed to be designed to avoid boxing herself in on any issue. Can this all-things-to-all-people strategy succeed in a crowded Democratic primary?
There’s no justification for this candidacy. The real energy right now among the grass-roots Dems and swing voters concerns econ-populist POLICY and, relatedly, undermining political and policy control by corps/industry/mega-rich. She has no history in this. None.
