As DA and AG, Kamala Harris developed a reputation for caution – frustrating many who saw her as just another politician with her eye on a bigger prize. It was enough of an issue that her Senate campaign tried to rebrand her as “fearless."https://nyti.ms/2UQEmyX

Harris gives a lawyerly answer to that criticism: "I had clients," so couldn’t speak out. And maybe caution was required for any woman, and a biracial woman in particular, in public life.

But this record haunts her now as she runs for president as a “Progressive prosecutor.” In the era of Black Lives Matter, her record doesn’t look so progressive. The programs she pioneered now look mainstream. And even her supporters tell us she’s a tough prosecutor above all.

So her record raises a couple of questions for her presidential campaign: 1. Most obviously, can a candidate who’s essentially a moderate excite the progressive base?

But harder to answer is 2. Will Dem primary voters decide the party needs a disciplined – the term Harris prefers to “cautious” – candidate in a general election against a famously undisciplined POTUS? Or is her caution a risk when voters seek authenticity?

In California, Kamala Harris' caution seemed to be designed to avoid boxing herself in on any issue. Can this all-things-to-all-people strategy succeed in a crowded Democratic primary?

I read about her past as a prosecutor & DA. It was not good. She ignored evidence, denied people fair trials & refused to admit when she or her team was wrong, even when Judges condemned her decisions. Not at all someone worthy of the Democratic Nomination!

So far Kamala Harris is the candidate who has impressed myself:friends the most. We continue to record speeches & interviews & try to read many publications to determine the best way to vote. Harris is super intelligent, super well educated & articulates her concerns splendidly.
