thanks, Kate -- for all the godawful deaths of newspapers right now, I was cheered and uplifted by the stories of our colleagues, past and present, and how valiantly they have worked to keep our fellow Americans informed about our civic and public life.
I feel so lucky - and so much wiser and better -- for having started out working at a small town newspaper.
