By the way, I am *not* arguing that it is impossible to differentiate between COVID and seasonal flu. What I am saying is that labs and doctors most likely went with whatever the overly sensitive PCR tests said: Positive for COVID-19.

I don’t think a failure to differentiate is what is being stated here. The PCR tests used a baseline of known SARS-CoV to detect COVID-19 so yes there could be misreads and also the cycle rate was too high. This states the new testing will provide a baseline to determine both.

Cont. — with that being said there is a suspicion in the 2020-21 influenza numbers, however this does not directly confirm that suspicion and should not be proliferated as a confirmation. You inform well but in this instance, it should be re-contextualized.

They admitted no such thing. It says that now we will only use FDA approved tests (all the ones you jam up your nose are not) and that it should detect both to save time. You‘re implying an inception with your take.
