i think we've seen that McConnell can hold an impeachment trial in about 14 minutes. This can happen right now.

What? So we are suppose to hope and pray Mitch McConnell holds an impeachment trial?

Whatever it takes to cripple his pardon power

But this doesn't remove him from office and he would still have 12 says to pardon whoever he wants. Impeachment (well conviction) just bars him from ever holding office again, which I think needs to be done, but we also need to solve the immediate issue of him in office

Still need 2/3 of Senate to convict

So he could still be “removed” from office even after he’s already gone? And he wouldn’t be able to run again? My brother mentioned this yesterday, but he wasn’t sure if he was right.

So they don't want to impeach Trump to get rid of him early. They want to impeach him to guarantee he can't run for president again? That's a big gamble that he won't do anything worse in the next 12 days.

Another school of thought; do their jobs, protect our nation and remove this imminent threat immediately.

How can they do it now before they've assumed control of the Senate? It's either 25A (requires Pence/the cabinet) or impeachment & conviction (requires a 2/3 majority in the Senate).
