Absurd. We have one of the lowest gas taxes in the world, and we are long overdue to raise it. The
#Trump tax bill was horrible, but we shouldn’t block this win for the environment. -
Gas tax should be by vehicle weight. Tack it onto registration. How many damn pickups do you see with nothing in them? Reductions for people who actually do something with the trucks.

It is: heavier vehicles are less fuel efficient, so owners pay more ta per mile.

On the contrary, it’s no where near high enough to cover the cost of maintaining our highways (the nominal purpose of the gas tax), but that’s besides the point. The gas tax needs to go up, other taxes on low income people need to go down proportionally to balance the impact out.
