I certainly agree that weak-sauce defenses of judgment and aesthetics and mischaracterization of the work of minoritarian critique are damaging in the face of the fight we are fighting, which is existential.

Not to butt in, but Kandice Chuh’s *The Difference Aesthetics Makes* is so so good and basically anticipates and obliterates all of Clune’s claims.

The version of this in my corner of campus is imperialism too: how Americans (and the whiteness you mention) exists in total oblivion the large histories of Empire and colonialism. Which is fwiw also a problem of a lot of domestic discussion of race in the US.
