    First to "voluntarily" free enslaved people as point of pride? Led by plantation owner/Gov. Calvert, Maryland was first colony to mandate lifelong servitude for Black slaves, first to make children of slaves their master’s property for life, first to ban interracial marriages.

    On this day in 1864, Maryland became the first state in the nation to voluntarily free its enslaved people. I have proclaimed Nov. 1 as Maryland Emancipation Day to commemorate the 157th anniversary of the abolishment of slavery in Maryland.

    Catherine Pugh is not a “trap queen”. Every other member of that board got millions of dollars none of them are in jail.

    Catherine Pugh used the promise of kids books to bankroll her political career, committed tax fraud in the process, and took over $100k from Kaiser Permanente for books they admit they never got—at the same time they were awarded a $45m city contract by Pugh’s Board of Estimates.
