I just found out there is an BSD licensed "[o]pen source implementation of High-throughput JPEG2000 (HTJ2K), also known as JPH, JPEG2000 Part 15, ISO/IEC 15444-15, and ITU-T T.814" that came out of the world of Kakadu.

The term "granule" always trips me up. "A granule is the minimum indivisible partition of a product (containing all possible spectral bands). [snip] granules, also called tiles, are 100x100 km2 ortho-images in UTM/WGS84 projection."

But I thought the first 64 bit workstation was DEC OSF/1 AXP (DG UX) running on the Alpha.

This code was written on an SGI Crimson back in the day. . "It is the world's first 64-bit workstation." and "This machine makes a brief appearance in the movie Jurassic Park where the character named Lex uses the machine to navigate [IRIX using fsn]"

Today I found a bug that has likely been in ATLAS sonar systems since 1993. It's hard to know what the impact of this is. How much if any data was written incorrectly and is this bug also in other tools like CARIS?

It doesn't look like I've shared this on twitter before. Just ran back into it... the Camp Google Echolocation episode.

An array of size 1 as the last element of a structure... pitfalls await. This is C circa 1993.

Some might think that PRJ RFC5 is pretty popular. I'd say they're correct!
