Tony Dungy has some great thoughts.......http://youtu.be/IzLBaos5Xy4

Yep - great thoughts & the fact that he can understand both sides... we all have opinions, what we would do... but hear ppl for what they are saying - don’t create own narrative!
-
Agree on not creating your own narrative. But can we agree it’s possible to cause hurt without intending to do so? People do have different experiences, and to so many, the flag & what it represents is so emotional. Would the message be better heard Dungy’s way?
-
It was a veteran who suggested that Kaepernick kneel. Because it was the most respected and respectful form of protest. You just don't want to hear from black people unless it's "Yes sir".

If you stood silently with a sign, the majority of the people wouldn’t even know due to prayer protocol. And if you disrupt prayer with noise then it’s no longer comparable to what the players are doing.

Respect. Also my dad would point out that “former” Marines don’t exist he loves saying once a Marine always a Marine.
-
I agree / but I have been told both “by my wife” so I’m really not sure what to call them - but regardless they are soldiers in my book!!
-
Yikes that gives you two opportunities to be wrong lol

How many of those kneeling have actually done something (other than kneeling) towards solving the problem they are protesting? How many have participated in outreach to the police and their community?
-
A LOT of them! Majority of them actually.

Working with the police? I know players donate to charity all the time, I'm asking specifically about what they say they are kneeling about. Not that I doubt you, but I'd like to see a reference as well if anyone has one.
-
For one, Google Doug Baldwin working with police up here in WA. I'm sure there are others but he comes to mind since I'm from here.

There were a couple guys in Philly and I remember from other teams as well. Keep in mind these are just the ones that were made public.
-
He wants references. You provide them. And he disappears. It’s a pretty common pattern that I’ve noticed.

Men have died for that flag, Kurt. There are other ways to protest besides kneeling, and they should by all means do so. No one is saying that there should be no protest (or at least I'm not), it's picking on the flag to purposefully piss people off.
-
You’re thinking about it all wrong. They’re not protesting the flag, or the anthem. A veteran recommended that Kap kneel during the anthem as a sign of a respectful protest. Soldiers didn’t die for the flag, they died to protect our rights.
-
Why is it when families of veterans are offended by kneeling during the anthem we are told we shouldn’t/aren’t allowed to be? Yet accidentally call someone by their non preferred gender and it’s a crime? My son is an Army Ranger fighting for your rights to your

Not saying that at all - I just don’t think most ppl who served wouldn’t be offended due to the reason they are protesting - more the means by which they r doing it! And I also believe based on our own experience we see the flag/anthem representing diff things - which is main pt!
-
That I agree with. Beto doesn’t think it’s disrespectful to protest during the anthem however and that I will never agree with. They can protest literally any other time during the game (1/2 time, coin toss) and 99% of Americans will be behind them. Just not during the anthem
