We, the Kwame Ture Society, stand in solidarity with the students and faculty members of the Dept. of Classics at Howard University. Howard should not and must not dissolve this long-standing and integral department. #SaveHUClassicshttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1I6AyEAhzUvRe9-V5vOk0EAQR9LFW5gXHxmlG6CbUiyI/viewform?edit_requested=true …

To dissolve the Classics Dept. would be to deny Black students from probing into Black reality. The classics often disregard Africans in antiquity, which former Howard professor emeritus Frank Snowden, Jr. studied extensively. This sort of study shall continue.

The decision to dissolve the Dept. of Classics would be telling of the university's trend toward de-emphasizing the humanities. In 2013, the Anthropology dept. was dissolved. Eight years later, the classics are at risk. Does
@HowardU not value the humanities?#SaveHUClassicsShow this thread -
Please sign this petition by
@twilli523 and keep Howard University from dissolving its Department of Classics. Examining our past is important, and classical study is one way to do so.#SaveHUClassicshttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1I6AyEAhzUvRe9-V5vOk0EAQR9LFW5gXHxmlG6CbUiyI/viewform?edit_requested=true …Show this thread
