lazywebs: does anyone know of a piece of free software that can slice SVGs from e.g. FreeCAD objects for _stacked_ laser-cutting? I know F360 has this; and I know of solutions for slicing interlocking (rather than stacked) parts; but I’d love to make a sturdy, stacked design.

I tried Slic3r and it looks kinda usable!? (The Prusa fork didn't work) Set the layer thickness to the thickness of your acryl sheets. File-> Silce to SVG (Ctrl+G)

Ooh — thanks! I didn’t see the “slice to SVG” option hidden in the menu; this definitely looks worth checking out. Will tweet something after I test it. :)

you could so something like this with openscad. Have an output good for 3d printing and one for laser cutting.

I made some of these using a combination of 2mm and 5mm thick acrylic on the laser. Both, transparent and black ones look really cool. You even can cut a thread for the screws direcly into the bottom plate if it is reasonable thick. I used 5mm and M4 threads.
