The 💩 is on! Doing stool ? Want to know which metabolites are reproducible? We tested in this paper: 10 healthy volunteers, 1 stool sample, cryogenically drilled 4 times 185 molecules, high variation btw drill & btw participants

Rich data sets could end costly drug discovery explains why it’s time to go beyond genetics when developing drugs. Deep Phenotyping including is a better approach.

Appreciate ’s strong contributions to transcriptome-level analysis of mammalian cell . No doubt next frontier, but before everyone goes nuts, remember: “Metabolism is a whole additional layer of regulation with enzymes that have to do chemical reactions.”

Here we show that children presumed to have Mendelian forms of disease are often just a higher polygenic risk. I wonder how many undiagnosed children with "rare genetic Mendelian diseases" are just at higher polygenic risk?

I’m thrilled to announce the publication of the quantitive proteomic profiling of the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia. The in collaboration with colleagues at Novartis and the Broad we measured the proteomes of 375 cell lines from various tumor lineages (1/13)

I <3 studies like this that focus on integration of multiple -omics techniques to understand the big picture. This study used epigenetics and proteomics to understand how DNA methylation can affect the proteome and cause disease.

In a recent study fueled by Metabolon, , et. al., identified 11 distinct genetic loci regulating the level of 14 salivary metabolites. Extra novel associations were identified allowing for an expansion of knowledge on genetic influences in human metabolites.

I'm excited to dig into this new urinary metabolites GWAS: . But I'm having trouble getting past the first hit. Why would you annotate rs3980014 with CASP9 when you have that beautiful AGMAT right there

Since to me this is the most interesting part of the study, I would have annotated the SNPs with the true causal genes and used those in the enrichment analyses. I agree with your 8 manual corrections from the supplementary notes

Ah - sorry - just found this footnote: "Incorporation of existing biochemical and biological knowledge would have led to prioritization of another most likely causal gene in the locus than the one derived by the automated scoring algorithm that is agnostic to gene function"
