    On this day in 1983, the TX-0 -- or TIX-OH cutely -- was booted up for the final time. This was one of the earliest transistorized computers, with a then-whopping 64k of 18-bit words on lightning-fast magnetic core memory. It used only 3600 Philco high-frequency transistors.
