Pretty sure San Francisco's extreme lock down, the news, and the stupid Citizen app, is causing people to lose their grasp of reality. Despite what you might read it isn't a Mad Max zombie apocalypse.

Basically real time crime stats are causing people to think we're in the middle of a violent crime wave. There is a lot of bias in being able to see things in real time without historical context. Crimes of desperation are up but that is to be expected.

oh wow that makes a lot of sense but i hadnt considered that the police have basically stopped arresting people in NYC, ever since George Floyd, so murders are up out here

San Francisco is having a meltdown over the DA. We're not incarceting people for anything less than murder. There are repeated offenders and SF conservatives are pining it on the DA exclusively because he's the most progressive part of the system and new.

Most of the crimes are drug related. Probably the answer is isolating the offenders out of town with proper treatment but that ain't going to happen. I'm just sick of it being attributed to @chesaboudin and not the situation itself. It is a hit job.
