It can definitely differ quite a bit. I know one place Darwin currently pays more is object deallocation; I have a patch in progress for that but getting it landed is slightly intricate. We’ve also discovered (and at least partially fixed) places non-Darwin is slower.
what I wonder is, does it affect SwiftFoundation as well. macOS performance is broken due to bridging to/from NSString most of the time. Linux Foundation is different.
