BTW the central bank does not *spend money* on a reverse repo. A reverse repo represents a short-term collateralized loan, where the borrower provides collateral (bonds) and receives cash for a predetermined number of days (for 7 and 14 days in this case). The loan has a cost.

Financial panics are like wildfires. Central banks need to step in. When there is a fire, governments are supposed to put the fire down, rather than watch idly while everyone screams "we are all going to die".

Meanwhile, the social media misinformation machine is using this temporary money injection as an excuse to express outrage at central banks and generate clicks. No wonder these clueless commentators are often the same people who say "college is unnecessary".

Implementing expansionary/countercyclical policies during panics helps businesses not go under and suffer avoidable losses due to liquidity problems, and helps people not lose their jobs. It was expected for China to inject liquidity, and the right thing to do. Economics 101.

The open will be volatile. SGX opens 8PM EST, Shanghai 830PM EST. So while most of Europe sleeps and most of North america watches the Superbowl, the Chinese will be flipping financial assets at top speed.

ZH often posts heavily biased or even fake pieces yet ironically still was the most useful account of all of Finance Twitter. Likely well banned, but it will be missed. About 6% of ZH's traffic came from Twitter. Would bet on ZH streaming on another platform if not reinstated.

Most news outlets have a solid track record in publishing fake news and dressing opinion as fact. Many influencers in fact consistently spread fake news as well. I wonder then how does Twitter decide who to suspend.
