Saw it several years ago and felt the same. I was uncomfortable and not laughing.
Just saw #BookofMormon and, while the performances were good, I was not impressed with the storyline, particularly the tropes about Africa.

Same! The play was less about the Mormon religion and more about the white savior complex, but im not sure that was intentional
