Loquats are tastier than you might expect given how little love the fruit usually gets, but wait until about Mother's Day for the ripe ones --- at least in NorCal.
There's a loquat tree in my apartment's front yard that hangs out over the sidewalk. While outside the past few days I've seen multiple families walk by with kids who get SO excited to have their dads lift them up and pick a fruit off the tree. A little spot of joy in the day.
