    It's been hard to get transparency about California's coronavirus model, which differs greatly from academic models that project a peak of infections next few weeks rather than next month. Newsom stands behind the state's estimate of late May, but won't make the model public.

        A public health spox recently told AP that California is looking at models from University of Pennsylvania, the University of Washington, and the Imperial College study, to inform it's work.
