Just a thought: A bunch of professional journalists trashing student journalists isn’t productive, regardless of how concerning the paper’s argument may be. There are teaching AND learning moments, and I’m sure we all had them, maybe before Twitter allowed them to spread.

I’ve now re-read - twice - the editorial and I worry that legitimate criticism is being confused with bullying. Not from you two, but in other places. The actions of the student paper should worry every single working journalist. And the whole of the Medill school faculty.

Yes, we should support & encourage & sympathize with these kids. They’re just starting & hopefully they learn a valuable lesson. But we can also be alarmed. They bowed down to peer pressure & sold out their staff. It’s more than a mistake. If I work there, I probably quit.
