Will be interesting to see how the Merced to SJ extension plays into the continuation. It brings economic opportunity and then would connect to already approved electrified Caltrain all the way to SF.

No disrespect to my fellow Californians from Modesto to Backersfield, but that stretch will have a greatly reduced impact than linking the Bay Area to LA. Let’s be honest about that. (if that little stretch even gets completed).

No doubt. Wonder if this is strategic—let's say we're shutting it down, actually build out the long middle stretch, and later connect it to the big cities.
